Service Prep

Want to do your part to make sure your service lasts as long as possible? Follow these hints and tips to ensure you get the best outcome possible.

Hair prep

  • Wash your hair 24-48hrs before the service, using two rounds of shampoo and condition only the ends. Ensure to blow-dry your hair smooth with minimal product use preferably a thermal spray and anti-humidity protectant. If you take a shower the morning of your service and you hair gets damp or wet in the process, please make sure your hair is completely dry, an additional charge of $35 will be added to your service on the day if your hair is damp/wet.
  • Do not leave your hair dirty/greasy for ‘grip.’ This is an old method used before the invention of texture powders and sprays. Leaving your hair in this manner may negatively affect the stylist capability of achieving the style you want.

Makeup prep

This information is given on a general consensus, and you should take into consideration your own skin type and history.

  • Refrain from new products or treatments up to 2-3 weeks before your service, you might have an adverse reaction, and this can change how we are able to provide the service and its outcome.
  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Please hydrate your skin from both within and out, this can be done through daily water consumption, daily skin hydration in the form of serums & moisturizers, in that order.
  • Protect your skin always, SPF every day. I recommend a minimum of SPF35. SPF everyday even under makeup is key to preventing damage, aging and pigmentation etc.
  • Diet, what you consume can directly affect your skin, Afterall your skin is the largest organ of the body. Please attempt to avoid inflammatory products in your diet as these directly affect your gut health and function. Items include, highly processed foods, high sugar content, high saturated fat content.
  • Mild exfoliation is recommended 1-2 times per week, this should be part of your skin routine anyway and if it’s not it is time to add. Exfoliation helps remove the dirt, sebum and dead skin.

Follow the 6 skin steps: Cleanse, Exfoliate, Tone, Hydrate, Moisturize, Protect.

General prep

  • Find inspiration images for the service, figure out what details you like from each image, focusing on the colors, textures etc. Don’t panic if you don’t know, we can walk you through the images upon consultation.
  • If you are wishing to spray tan or self-tan before your service, please do so 2-3 days before the scheduled service. Please also avoid tanning your face as this may change the way makeup sits on the skin along with manipulating the color of the products used.
  • We are makeup artists & hair stylists who have been through lots of different training practices; however, we are not magicians or plastic surgeons. Please be mindful of your expectations, we will always aim to recreate your inspiration but do remember if the canvas and exact tools are not the same the outcome may differ slightly.
